Staff relocation project
Website: www.rhodeshouseoxford.comDesigned by Sir Herbert Baker and built in 1928 Rhodes House is the home of the Rhodes Trust formed to administer the Rhodes Scholarships awarded to outstanding all-round international post graduate students as determined by the will of Cecil Rhodes.
The Rhodes Trust appointed Ian Bridge Consultancy to assist in the project management of a staff relocation exercise converting the existing Warden’s residential accommodation into offices at Rhodes House. The project has involved modification of fire alarm systems, power and data provision and the restoration of building elements back to their original state in this prestigious Grade II listed building.
No compromise to listed building
An important element of the instruction was to ensure any works didn't compromise Rhodes House’s listed building status. This involved close consultation with the Conservation Officer involving submission of the proposed works and obtaining agreement prior to commencement on site was key to the delivery of a successful project.
