Oxford City Council
Domestic Renovation
IBC is part of the Oxford City Council framework for surveyors and successfully bid for and won a project as a Lead Designer and Contract Administrator for the extension and renovation of a property in their housing stock.
With planning permission already granted, we undertook a measured survey and designed the new ground floor layout from scratch to enable level access living for the client. Working closely with OCC and Occupational Therapy we ensured our design met the requirements of the new occupant and Part M of the Building Regulations. Initially proposing three different internal arrangements, a decision was made and we proceeded to produce an NBS Specification and the Contractor’s Schedule of Works.
From day 1 with the contractor on site, the project ran smoothly, to time and, more importantly, to budget. This was especially impressive as new details from OCC, the OT and client meant that while we were on site, the specific requirements had to be altered or changed to suit the client, including rear garden parking, patio and level access. We at IBC pride ourselves on our flexibility and constructing a Schedule of Works that enables these sorts of changes to happen and not impact the whole project.
