Party Wall Project

D’Overbroeck’s College, Oxford was served a Section 6 notice under the Party Wall etc Act 1996 by the owner of a residential property adjoining their Lower School premises in Leckford Place.

The College appointed Ian Bridge MRICS to act as Adjoining Owner’s Surveyor to negotiate a Party Wall Award on their behalf.

A key factor in the agreement of the Award with the Building Owner’s surveyor was the proximity of proposed noisy excavations to the College’s Music Studio. Agreeing and recording sensitive hours for the College’s operation, particularly relating to music examinations, within the Award being crucial to the College.

Ian Bridge was regularly called to site by the College to check compliance with the Award by the Building Owner’s building contractor and engage with the contractor and his operatives to achieve adherence to the requirements in the Award.
